loving Addy and Emmy

California here we come!

I feel it's worth mentioning that one suitcase is for the girls and one parent. I also feel it's worth mentioning that they are using the smaller of the two suitcases. In case it's not clear still, I (Heidi) am that parent. Score one for the girls!

2012 Goals

1. Family Activities: last year one of our goals was to get out for more family activities together. We want to continue to focus on family activities with an emphasis on outdoor winter activities this year... hopefully we'll still get a bit of winter!
2. Learn to sew
3. Learn to use my camera and use it every day. Try to get Nat and I in the picture more
4. Finish my photobook projects: 2009, 2010 and 2011 family journals, photo albums and an album/book for Addy
5. Travel: Ok, so technically this will be accomplished by the end of January, but we want to continue to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
6. Read more
7. Take a page out of Addy's book and wear more dresses (or tunics) and skirts
8. Watch all the Lord of the Rings movies & see the Hobbit
9. Play more games together. Have a Carcassonne Night with all our expansion packs
10. Eat more meatless dishes

2011 in review

Nat and I both agree that 2011 was our best year yet! I'm actually a little sad to see it go. We hit some big milestones this year! We celebrated 5 years of marriage and we both turned 30.  Addy turned 3 and Emmy, my baby turned 1. We celebrated that we've been in our new house for a year. We had the perfect summer which included a great vacation, a short camping trip, some fun day trips, and four weddings - including two of Nat's siblings and my Mom. Addy started pre-school and is LOVING it. We went on our first hotel vacation with the girls to Lake Louise and it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. We spent Christmas at my Dad's, which consisted of two day long car trips and a family bedroom, both of which the girls were terrific for and we had a great time. And what year would be complete without a quick trip to the hospital (I seem to remember doing the same thing for Emmy at this time last year) for Addy with a case of croup. (She's fine, the steroids did the trick, although it was a little nerve racking the first night and I am so thankful we still have a room monitor for her room otherwise we wouldn't have heard her struggling to breathe.)

 

Addy's Christmas Story

Addy doesn't like the Christmas story. She says that in HER Christmas story there is no barn and there is a room for them in the hotel at the top where they sleep in comfy beds and baby Jesus sleeps in the middle of Mary and Joseph. Why no stable? She doesn't want baby Jesus to fall out of the manger.
